Okay, you know how people, especially teens, are “Rebelling against the norm?” We are told to be our selves, not told what that means. I am going to try to explain what I think is going on here. It always makes sense in my head, but when I try to tell someone, I can’t explain it. So please, bear with me.
Can everyone agree that there are different kinds of people, such as, Goth, Emo, or Hipsters. What they try to do, is be different. They try to be different, by piercing their ear to try to be different, by getting a Mohawk and dying it green JUST to be different.
I am not condemning people who do these things. I am saying that I do not think that is ME. Nor do I think it is right for me.
I believe in God. I’m a Christian. I (Personally), think that it is not right for me to pierce my ear, or other things that I am not going to mention. That is my conviction.
Hipsters are a good example. If their is an obscure kind of music, they listen to be different. If that kind of music becomes popular, they stop liking it because everyone likes it. I think that is wrong.
I like Frank Sinatra, hats, and Big Band Music. If everyone started to listen to big band, or Frank Sinatra. Or started wearing Fedoras, I would love it! I like RC cola™. If Pepsi went out of business, (Sorry Pepsi fans. Coke is my second favorite
) and RC Cola™ took it’s place, I would not go searching for another brand.
Most of my friends listen to things I have never heard of, it discourages me sometimes, but it also gives us more to talk about.
So, what I think I am trying to say is this: do not walk when the light is red just because no one else is walking. (plus you could get hit.)
For those who do not understand what that was supposed to mean: Do not be different for the sole purpose of being different. Do it because it is right. (Or do not do it because it is wrong.)
I think I need to work out what I think, before I post. What do you think?
I may write a second post on the subject so keep your eye’s peeled.
Tell me what you think about that, please comment
I completely agree with you. As you know, I am a huge fan of foreign films and music. I also like Disney. A lot of my friends, however, think that I’m either childish or weird. I’m sure the term “retarded” has crossed their minds more than once. However, I will still sing “Banana Phone” in the DPS office or play Double-Catch in the Wal-Mart shopping isles because it’s completely me, it’s fun, and it’s not harming me or anybody else around me (unless some wayward shopper gets in the way of the rubber balls). I would suggest “mylifeisaverage.com” for you. It’s full of people who believe in doing what is truly them instead of going with the flow of society or going directly against the current.
thank you for the suggestion and for the comment. I would say you are a very big fan of foreign films.
As long as it’s what you like, keep singing Banana Phone and throwing rubber balls in wall-mart, I personally saw their rip-sticks were opened and unlocked, grabbed one and “tried” it out in the toy section.
Wall-mart and Sam’s club have the perfect floors for rip-sticks. shame they won’t let you ride them.
